White Balance

On our first official assignment, we were asked to use our camera's different white balance pre-settings to take the same picture in the same light so that we could see the differences that these settings make in our pictures.  For example, the sample picture was taken on a cloudy day using the Fluorescent lights setting, so the resulting image is much bluer than the scene actually looked.

My favorite example, though, is the picture below (taken inside under incandescent lighting) because the specific fluorescent setting (mercury-vapor lamps, who knows what those are!) turned the entire image a bright yellowish-red.
